Poway Unified: Back to School Donation

Back-to-school season is here — and for some Poway families, it comes with real hardship. We’re partnering with Youth in Transition (YIT) through Poway Unified School District to collect essential school supplies and everyday necessities for families experiencing homelessness in our community.

YIT removes barriers to school enrollment, attendance, transportation, and academic success so that every child — regardless of their housing situation — can show up, stay in school, and thrive.

You can bring your donations to our 4:30 pm service located at 13617 Midland Rd, Poway, CA.

Donation Drive Dates: August 2nd  – August 30th

Here’s what YIT needs most right now:

School Supplies

• Highlighters (various colors)
• Mechanical pencils
• Sharpies – fine tip, black

Snacks & Food

• Non-expired, individually wrapped snacks (cookies, chips, crackers, etc.)
• Microwavable food (oatmeal cups, Mac & Cheese cups, ramen)

Gift Cards

• Gas gift cards
• Food gift cards (These go a long way for families who are stretched thin and need help getting to school or putting food on the table.)

Hygiene & Household

• Deodorant
• Laundry pods
• Disinfecting wipes
• Sewing kits to patch clothing

Clothing

• Socks — boys’, girls’, men’s, and women’s sizes
